These unusual caps, with the square visor, are an iconic piece of French Military gear that date back to the War in Indochina. As the French headgear of the time was found to be wholly inadequate for that environment, a new, radically different replacement was allegedly designed by infamous general Marcel Bigeard, and that replacement ultimately became the cap you see here. I don't remember the particulars of the peculiar visor, but it certainly makes for a distinctive cap! This cap appears unissued, but has been marked as "used" just in case. A nice large size 59 (7 1/2) to boot! -------- I am a longtime collector of Cold War military equipment.
